    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

Newcastle are hungrier than their hosts at the moment. Kenedy epitomises that by hounding Charlie Taylor to win back possession. Not much fight from Burnley in the past few minutes…

  2. Kyle:Brilliant start from Newcastle. Fantastic header from Clark. Burnley are a mess at the back and we look very comfortable in defence. I can see Newcastle going on and winning this one 3-0 or 4-0.

David Ljunggren:Newcastle are 2-0 up away from home in the first half? I must have slipped into an alternate universe

    Burnley 0-2 Newcastle

Right-back Matt Lowton appears to be Burnley’s best attacking outlet at the moment. But his cross is overcooked again as he fails to pick out a team-mate. A collective groan comes from the home stands…

  4. ‘When was the last time Burnley scored three?’

It was a short corner routine but only one Burnley player went out. Defenders have then got to mark properly, and they don’t. You can’t let someone have a header from eight yards out. It was a simple goal.

Sean Dyche will be absolutely furious. When was the last time Burnley scored three?

Maybe the home fans should already be thinking about going downstairs for a chicken balti pie…

What’s going on at the back for Burnley? Another soft goal as Matt Ritchie swings in a cross from the right after a short corner, the unmarkedCiaran Clarkglancing a free header into the far corner.

Another corner for Newcastle. We know what happened last time…

    Clue: Newcastle scored.

As a top class keeper Martin Dubravka has to do better with Chris Wood’s shot. He’s a little bit fortunate it bounced to safety.

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Anyhow will do… Not sure how Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka keeps out a shot from Chris Wood, but he has. Looked like it whacked him in the face like a surprise jab from Anthony Joshua.

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

That two hour-plus, 120-mile journey has been worth it so far for the Newcastle fans.

This is the earliest the Magpies have scored away from home in the Premier League since Yohan Cabaye against Sunderland in October 2012.

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle bound forward on the counter through Matt Ritchie on the left flank. Ben Mee sticks his head on the ball and this time diverts the danger away from his goal instead of into it.

Most of the game being played in the Newcastle half, but Burnley still unable to break Newcastle down. The visitors are nice and compact

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Burnley fans are baying for blood as Mohamed Diame steams in late on Jack Cork. They want to see a booking, ref Anthony Taylor says it is nothing more than a foul.

Interesting stat… no Premier League player has made more tackles in 2018 than Diame.

David Batty would be proud. If he cared about modern football.

  14. Tactical switch for Newcastle?

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

    Danny Mills

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

That’s what we expect from Burnley. Get the ball wide and get crosses in.

I think Newcastle have gone to a five at the back with Matt Ritchie as one wing-back and DeAndre Yedlin as the other.

  15. Post update

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Plenty of energy from both sides in a high-tempo start. Burnley probing, Newcastle pressing.

Matt Lowton suddenly finds himself in acres of space on the right flank, curling in an inviting cross to the far stick.

Chris Wood lurks but cannot control his half-volley and it sails into the Cricket Field Stand.

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Pretty sure Federico Fernandez won’t be picking up a goal bonus in next month’s wages. Reckon his sidefooted effort was going wide until Ben Mee stuck his boot in the way.

  17. ‘Benitez is a superb defensive coach’

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

    Danny Mills

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

The Burnley manager Sean Dyche will be absolutely livid. When you’re defending a corner the first thing you’re looking for is height and distance.

Sitting back and attacking on the counter-attack is Rafael Benitez’s forte. Newcastle are very adept at defending, Benitez is a superb defensive coach.

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Burnley are getting their foot on the ball and trying to attack Newcastle. A decent response so far…

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Is that shirtless Newcastle fan still around? You know the one – big fella, NUFC tattoo on his stomach. If he is then he’ll be bearing all in the away end. The travelling fans, as you will expect, are buzzing.

  20. Post update

    Burnley 0-1 Newcastle

Burnley go straight on the hunt for a foothold back in the match. Some aggressive attacking play pins back the visitors but ends when Sam Vokes slips and balloons a 20-yard shot over the bar.
