A BAN ON STREET TRADING AND HAWKING BY ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT, AN INHUMAN DECLARATION.

In the bid for re-election as Governor of Anambra state, Mr. Willie Obiano canvassed for the total support of okada and Keke riders, street traders and hawkers and all sons and daughters of the state. In October 2017, the governor reduced tariffs paid by Okada and Keke riders in #Anambra not knowing it was his ploy to win their votes. He received massive support of #Anambrarians and was voted in for the second term. Today, the Governor has become a torn in the flesh of her denizens instead of providing succour and help to the suffering masses.

In June 2018, Governor Obiano announced "No going back on Okada ban" insisting the announcement is irrevocable and which took effect on July 1 2018. This is man's inhumanity to fellow man as he was aware of massive protest by over 15,000 Okada riders who called on him to revert the ban due to economic hardship the ban would impact on their families. The Governor failed to harken to the cry of her denizens and went further to implement the unpopular ban on Okada. This ban caused loss of over 50,000 jobs in Anambra State as their means of livelihood were abruptly stopped.

The latest act of tyranny by Governor Obiano is his pronouncement of a ban on street trading and hawking in Anambra State. What has the people of Anambra done to Governor #Obiano to deserve all these acts of wickedness? The secretary to Anambra State Government and the Commissioner of Trade and Commerce, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu and Dr. Christian Madubuko respectively through their press release confirmed the ban. This ban is unpopular, callous, inhuman and a total display of cruelty on the denizens who he (Mr. Obiano) swore to protect and defend their course. It is evident that more than 80% of #Nigerians live below the poverty line with less than $1 a day. How can a Governor who claims to have conscience make such a wicked declaration that would put thousands of families in hunger and abject suffering?

Governor Willie Obiano is hereby called upon to immediately reverse this unpopular ban on street trading and hawking but should rather seek ways to better and ameliorate the sufferings of the good people of Anambra.
