COVID-19: THE POLITICAL WEAPON OF THE DEMOCRATS AGAINST TRUMP.
With over 19, 000 new cases and over 12, 000 total deaths as a result of Covid-19 in USA; it is very clear that America is facing an existential threat from Covid-19 virus. Despite this national emergency due to the dramatic spike in the number of people affected, which demands concerted efforts across party lines in combating this pandemic, the Democrats chose to heep the blame on President Trump. Regrettably, their fight against the pandemic has become a political football.
Recall, Bill de Blasio, ( the mayor of the New York City and a member of the Democratic Party) initially considered this epidemic to be a very little threat, and to him, a misconception and the transmission, not that easy. Being the 109th Mayor of New York City, so many people listened to him. "New Yorkers should go about their daily lives, no need to panic or avoid activities they always do as New Yorkers". Such statement was credited to Democrats alike. Today, what's happening? New York, " the city that never sleeps, is now asleep, all day quiet".
Due to their policy of open borders, Bernie Sanders ( presidential aspirant and also a member of the democratic party) was asked in a town hall meeting that if he has the powers, will he shut down USA borders? His response was, "NO". Why such response at the time when other nations were announcing strict lockdown and imposing unprecedented restriction on social and professional activities.
So, they (Democrats) downplayed the threat. Not Trump! Some of them even considered it to be a seasonal flu or common cold and there's no need to panic. So, they should not weaponize the virus against President Donald J. Trump. The media should cease from their onslaught and try and control their political appetite. This is a national emergency and calls for national collaboration. Covid-19 does not recognize political boundaries. Regardless of their political ideologies, they should team up with President Trump and his team in their containment and mitigation responses against this fast-spreading invisible threat.
