EFCC: WATCHDOG FOR THE APC-LED FG?
The All Progressive Congress-led Federal Government of Nigeria is highly criticized for their customary practice of hunting opposition parties with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The #EFCC whose onus is, inter alia, to investigate financial crimes and restore accountability in public offices in the nation has finally turned into a watchdog which the ruling party uses against public officers who are non members of their party (APC).
In as much as the EFCC is encouraged to carry out investigations on the people currently in the commission's list, they are also advised to do so without bias or influence from the Executive arm of the government or the ruling party.
More alarming is the fact that APC is now seen as an umbrella for crime lords in the country. Some prominent APC members such as erstwhile Governor of Imo State- Rochas #Okorocha, Orji Uzor #Kalu, Adams #Oshiomole, Rotimi #Amaechi, all have dearth of allegations against them but yet the EFCC has not probed or arraigned them, despite the clear-cut evidence against them.
With the situation in the country at present, one begins to wonder if the Buhari/APC led administration is really fighting corruption or has become an umbrella for looters and corruptocrats. The said APC-steered Government is hereby challenged to fight corruption without bias to revive its already-trodden integrity.
