Nine years ago, with #Goodluck #Jonathan as Nigeria's President and #Boko #Haram still as an infant brood with a harmless fang, Rev. Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed #Christian #Church of #God, led a one-million man march, garnering hundreds and thousands of signatures with a petition, to protest the spate of insecurity and #kidnappings in Africa's most populous nation. Pa #Adeboye, as fondly revered by his flock of faithfuls, classified the ignominious and dastardly acts as "unbearable" and "utterly condemnable" and was quoted as saying that "it is about time religious organizations, began to raise awareness on the depreciating standard of security in the country".
Nine years after, with #President Muhamadu #Buhari in power, Boko Haram has successfully metamorphosed into the second deadliest terrorist group in the world with over 1,000,000 lost lives so far to their credit; #Fulani herdsmen – the world's fourth deadliest terrorist group – now exists as Nigeria's second nightmare, expanding mercilessly their acts of terror via mass killings and kidnappings and severely damaging what is left of Nigeria's wobbly internal security, but Pa Adeboye is of the opinion that this time around (which is glaringly worse off), Nigerians need to "pray" for their leaders.
Such glaring inconsistency and prolonged silence from the revered clergyman has left many in wonder as to whether Pa Adeboye is now either unaware, unaffected or apathetic to the present record shattering spate of the course(insecurity), he once championed with enthusiasm, nine years ago. It took the kidnap of a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a few days ago for Pa Adeboye to admit Nigeria's present security situation as "the worst ever."
With one president needing prayers and another needing protests, it is easy to tell where the interest is nested. To the millions of Nigerians who have witnessed a total failure of government over the last four years, President Muhammadu Buhari is undoubtedly the worst democratically elected president Nigeria has ever had and this remains the truth, even though the truth appears hoarded by supposed "men of truth".
