PASTOR KUMUYI'S CALL ON NIGERIANS NOT TO ATTACK BUHARI, A CRITICAL LOOK AT THE DECEPTION AND HYPOCRISY.
On Sunday, 2nd of June, 2019, at Deeper Life Bible Church Headquarters, #Gbagada, Lagos, Pastor #Kumuyi warned #Christians in #Nigeria against attacking President Buhari and other leaders in the country.
During his sermon, he urged #Nigerians to "accept the leadership that God has given them". Taking his reference from 1st Peter 2 vs 11-25, he said that government derives their authority from God.
The attention of the General Superintendent needs to be drawn to the series of catastrophic and terrible events that have transpired under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari since 2015. The three mantra on which APC rode to power in 2015 were on security, fighting corruption and boosting the economy.
#BokoHaram was one of the major challenges of Nigeria in 2015 but today, #Fulani militants have been declared the 4th most deadliest terror group in the world by Global Terrorism Index (GTI) behind #ISIS, #Al-Shabab and #Boko #Haram. This should be of great worry for a cleric of his class where his fellow citizens are murdered in cold blood in unimaginable numbers by the Fulani militants under President Buhari's watch.
Worse still, there has not been any single arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators by the Buhari-led administration rather the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has continuously called for tolerance, patience and endurance.
The primary responsibility of any government is to protect the lives and property of her citizens and President #Buhari has failed woefully in this regard hence, should be called to order immediately. The average Nigerian is going through one of the most difficult times of their lives. The economy is crumbling, job losses are increasing in without restrictions while corruption is blooming and the President is not sensitive to any of these.
It is quite unfortunate, totally condemnable and absolute display of disregard to the plight of Christians in Nigeria. On several occasions, the cleric has sided with the President but has failed to speak up and defend the course of Christians in Nigeria. For example, 16-year #LeahSharibu has been in the captivity of Boko Haram since 2017 because of her Christian faith and Pastor Kumuyi has never deemed it necessary to ask the President for her release but can urgently speak in defence of the President.
Therefore, the cleric is hereby asked to stand with #Christians in Nigeria rather than defending a leader who has caused terrible hardship and frustration of her citizen.
