PSEUDO-PRESIDENT SEEKING THIRD TERM – REWARD FOR INCOMPETENCE?

With the recent unfortunate happenings in Nigeria, one would not be wrong to state that Nigeria is in coma but sadly, little or no effort is being made to resurrect or rejuvenate it. Individuals or organizations that ought to speak, act or react to the heinous and vicious crimes against humanity constantly becoming a norm in the country are feigning deafness/ignorance hence, bluffing themselves.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been the President of Nigeria since 2015, after the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, is not ready to step down as the president after his second tenure which ought to terminate in 2023. He is vehemently seeking third term by initiating processes to review the Nigerian Constitution in order to give room for a third tenure even after his obvious administrative failures. But the questions remain, “What are reputable organizations doing? What are Nigerians in diaspora doing?”

Unfortunately, the bill has passed its first reading at the National Assembly and a second reading is not farfetched. If we all (including those who ought to speak for the masses such as Trade Union, NBA, Student Union, etc.) remain mute and feel less concerned about it, this would pass a second reading in the National Assembly and nothing can be done unless God intervenes.
President Buhari has achieved nothing to continue as the President of Nigeria and as such, should not be given any opportunity to be on seat after 2023.
