SOUTHERN KADUNA KILLINGS:A LITMUS TEST FOR ISLAMIZATION AGENDA?
The violent attacks in the heavily embattled Southern areas of #Kaduna State, North-West #Nigeria have resumed with a ferocious intensity that resuscitates the question of the role of government and its efforts towards quelling the ugly storm.
These attacks which have spanned over two decades have claimed millions of lives and property. Since 2016, the attacks have increased in intensity, scope and motivation but sadly, the governor of the state,
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has only exhibited threatening levels of cluelessness, especially to the people of the
regions affected who believe he secretly fans the embers of these attacks by his soft stance on the attackers who are mostly known in recent times to be #Fulani #herdsmen.
The belief of the predominantly Christian people of #Southern Kaduna who are the victims of these attacks is confirmed in the series of actions by the governor who declared in 2016, an open war on religious
activities and hate speech in the state through a bill which clearly infringes the right of the citizens to freedom of worship and targets all the modus operandi of #Christians while claiming to be religiously neutral.
There are fears that Southern Kaduna is a litmus test for the actualization of the #Islamization agenda by the nation's President Muhammadu Buhari, as areas within the region known to be predominantly #Christian, have been singled out for attacks by Herdsmen and are even indirectly persecuted by the state government through unlawful demolition of residential houses.
Unfortunately, the Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN) is found wanting in many aspects of its responsibilities and this is one of them. The Federal Republic of Nigeria government must wake up to its responsibilities to protect the life of its citizens irrespective of their religious or political affiliations.
Such leniency, apathy and inaction exhibited by the President #Buhari in the Kaduna situation are indeed despicable for a president who speedily deploys the military to rig elections and witchhunt oppositions.
Right to life is superior and remains non-negotiable.
