THE DEARTH OF 'TRUE' JUSTICE IN NIGERIA

The degrading level of Democracy in Nigeria today is rendering her future hopeless. Today, victory could be given on a platter of kangaroo decisions in favour of an individual(s) but generations to come will live by the decisions delivered today. There is no doubt about this!

What do one have to make of the recent Appeal cases tendered to the law courts for a transparent Judiciary system in Nigeria following the antecedents to the 2019 general elections arising from the removal of Justice Walter Onnoghen down to the elections which captured some live scenes of denial of franchise to the voters, vote manipulations, burning down of electoral equipment in order to disrupt the exercise, and some military personnel involving in the raid by hoodlums and rigging of various sort to thwart the electoral process. Moreso, denial of freedom of expression, shooting of defenceless civil protest by the citizens and much dangerous display of an unruly democracy practised this year, especially in the Tribunal petition by the PDP presidential flagbearer. It definitely sums up actions of MILITOcracy, DEMONcracy and clear perversion of justice in a very deliberate manner.
It is evident that majority of Nigerians are losing hope of survival daily in #Nigeria. Majority of her citizens live from hand to mouth in order to put food on the table. There are great percentage and chances of people taking laws into their hands especially when posed with options to destroy anything worth giving Nigeria hope of survival because the leaders who ought to build the peace of this nation are engrossed to segregate and tear down the common goal that can unite this nation. It is appalling and detrimental to the great future this nation once had.

If Nigerian leaders can look back in history how those who fought for the independence of this nation were engrossed to establish the common goal of living a life free life from colonialism, they shouldn’t in this generation encourage tribalism, nepotism and bigotry today. For instance, the undying love Nelson Mandela had for his people even after his long twenty-seven years of pains and suffering under their colonial masters made him call for peace more from his fellow countrymen and not to fuel the burning rage in their hearts to destroy the whites. Today, it is evident Nigeria is lacking such selfless leaders, Why do various union leadership, the likes of Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, Academic Staff Union of Univeristies, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics etc. prioritise personal gains over pivotal gains for the nation? Why is the judiciary being suffocated with biased decree/pronouncements which should be enveloped in transparency to resolve cases than attaching sentiments? Too many questions yet no answers. Today it could be the win-win case of the person in power, influence, wealth or what have you but tomorrow it will be the detrimental destruction of one’s entire generation.

This is therefore a clarion call to all Nigerians that no one, country or International Body can redeem the loss of economic development and that of of true-democratic leadership the nation is heaping on herself today. A brighter tomorrow is consequently a result of our actions today, hence what is being done consciously or unconsciously, are the building blocks of the notion of such foundation. If it is on the negative, that will spread. If positive, the same will be spread to all.
The growth or death of Nigeria lie in the hands of every Nigerian and they must speak up in the face of adversity.
